VLS has retained its Cyber Essentials Plus certification, recently passing its Stage 2 assessment and adding to the ISO 27001 standard for information security which was achieved last year.
Having the certification puts VLS in a stronger position when bidding for external contracts with local authorities and heavily regulated utility companies. The UK Government’s National Cyber Security Strategy aims to make the UK a safer place to conduct business online and all suppliers bidding for government contracts which involve handling sensitive and personal information and provision of certain technical products and services have to be compliant with Cyber Essentials. Additionally, regulated industries often stipulate this requirement at the pre-qualification stage of tenders. The Cyber Essentials scheme identifies some fundamental technical security controls that organisations need to have in place.
